This tool is a simple cash ledger to help track business income and deductible expenses across the year. Each row is one transaction. Running totals for income, expenses, and the net figure update as you enter data.
Only the business-use portion of an expense is deductible. Where an item is partly private, record the full amount and apply your business-use percentage when preparing your return. Records are generally kept for 5 years from the date the record was prepared or the transaction occurred.
If your business is registered for GST, GST collected on sales and GST credits on purchases are reported through your Business Activity Statement. This tool records the GST-included status of each transaction for your reference — it does not compute GST or any tax.
